Après un bac scientifique, Matthieu est parti étudier en Angleterre où il a obtenu les diplômes “Yacht and Powercraft Design” de la Solent University de Southampton puis le Master of Ship Sciences in “Yacht and Small Craft” de l’Université de Southampton. Durant ses études, il a été amené à étudier la Jauge IRC pour dessiner un 33 pieds de course croisière, ce qui fut son projet de fin d’étude à la Solent University.

Matthieu a travaillé comme stagiaire chez “Technologie Marine”, un chantier basé à la Trinité sur Mer spécialisé dans la réalisation de moules et de projets à l’unité et au Centre de Recherche pour l’Architecture et l’Industrie Naval (CRAIN) à la Rochelle.

Passionné par la voile, Matthieu a fait de nombreuses croisières, convoyages, régates entre trois bouées et semi hauturières dont un “Tour de France à la Voile” et deux “Fastnet”.

Matthieu VISBECQ, 23 years old, has now joined the French based IRC Rating office in Boulogne sur Seine where he will work with Ludovic Abollivier. Studying at the Solent University, he got the degree “Yacht and Powercraft Design”. Then, he obtained the Master of sciences in “Yacht and small craft” delivered by the Ship Sciences Department of the University of Southampton. He began to be deeply interested in the IRC rules when he designed a 33 feet cruiser racer as a final year project two years ago.

Passionate by sailing, he did several cruises, conveys, inshore and offshore races including a “Tour de France à la Voile”, three RORC seasons and two “Fastnet races”.
