Dans la Classe A, Bella Donna et Genapi sont les premiers à passer la bouée de dégagement. Bien à son aise avec ces quelques nœuds en plus, Maluba les suit de près. Glen Ellen V mène la Classe B devant Petrouchka 3 et L’Immens. Tchin Tchin vire en tête, talonné par Modark et Vell Mari V.
Cette cinquième course pourrait bien être décisive car le coefficient 2 initialement prévu pour la Course Offshore est maintenu. Dès le départ, il est clair qu’après cette manche, le classement général sera véritablement bouleversé à la défaveur des Défis français. En effet, sur cinq bateaux concernés par le rappel individuel sur le départ, seul Duende 50 a réparé sa faute. Lady First² (Défi SNM), Sayann II (Défi CNN), Albacor IV (Défi SNST) et Lovin’It (Défi YCGM) ont le déplaisir d’apprendre la nouvelle à la bouée de dégagement.

A SPANISH DAY ?
Race N°5 starts at 12h30 PM. It is a coastal race, 38 milles long. The wind speed is 10 knots, coming from the East once again. After the winward mark, the fleet heads to Arenys de Mar in the North for a long reaching leg before coming back downwind to Barcelona.
In Class A, Bella Donna and Genapi are first to reach the mark. Faster with few more knots, Maluba is closely following the leaders. In Class B, Glen Ellen V gives the way to Arenys, preceding Pertrouchka 3 and L’Immens. In Class C, Tchin Tchin tacks first with Modark and Vell Mari V in her transom.
With a coefficient 2, this fifth race could be decisive. Just after the start, it appears clearly that the overall results will dramatically change tonight and not in favour of the French Teams. Five yachts were concerned by the individual recall at the start. Only Duende 50 came back and turned around the Race Committee boat. Lady First² (Défi SNM), Sayann II (Défi CNN), Albacor IV (Défi SNST) et Lovin’It (Défi YCGM) learned the bad news arriving at the first mark.
